Urban Planner

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Urban Planner to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have experience in urban design, land use planning, and community engagement. You will play a key role in shaping sustainable urban environments and will work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive urban plans covering land use, transport systems, and public spaces.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for local councils and communities.
• Conduct community outreach programs to inform and involve citizens in urban planning efforts.
• Analyze demographic data to predict future needs for urban development.
• Assist in securing funding and grants for urban development projects.
• Evaluate existing urban spaces and propose improvements or renovations.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to encourage community participation in planning.
• Collaborate with sustainability experts to integrate green practices into urban plans.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field
• Master's degree in Urban Planning preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in urban planning or related projects

Certifications

• Chartered Town Planner (CTP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
