Job Description

As a Veterinary Technician at VetCare South Africa, you will be integral to our veterinary team. Your duties will include assisting in surgical procedures, collecting lab samples, and providing post-operative care to animals. If you are enthusiastic about helping animals and their owners, we want you on our team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare animals for surgery and assist during procedures.
  • Administer anesthesia as required under supervision.
  • Monitor vital signs of animals during surgical procedures.
  • Assist in managing the veterinary pharmacy.
  • Perform dental cleanings and assist in dental procedures.
  • Provide emergency first aid to injured animals.
  • Participate in community outreach programs promoting responsible pet ownership.
  • Train and supervise junior staff and interns.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Contribute to the overall patient care strategy and clinic operations.

Requirements

Education
  • Diploma in Veterinary Technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health or Veterinary Science is an advantage
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a veterinary technician
