Public Health Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Public Health Specialist committed to advancing health initiatives in Johannesburg. You’ll work closely with community leaders and health organizations to develop and implement programs that impact public health positively.

Responsibilities

• Assess community health needs through surveys and focus groups.
• Track public health indicators and prepare ongoing assessments.
• Develop partnerships with local businesses for health promotion activities.
• Advocate for policies to improve public health infrastructures.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions on health topics.
• Maintain updated knowledge of public health trends and best practices.
• Mentor junior public health staff and interns.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field
• Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or equivalent experience preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in public health methodologies and community health

Certifications

• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
• Basic Life Support Certification

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

• Fluency in multiple South African languages: Ability to communicate effectively in diverse languages spoken in South Africa.
