Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our lively clinic in Johannesburg. Your responsibilities will include assisting with surgeries, performing diagnostic tests, and educating pet owners about proper care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare animals for surgical procedures and monitor them post-operation.
• Conduct diagnostic imaging and pathology tests.
• Assist in the training of junior staff and interns.
• Ensure the clinic is compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Engage with pet owners to answer queries and provide updates on their pets' health.
• Participate in community outreach and educational programs regarding animal care.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Veterinary Technology or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science is an advantage

Experience

• 2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician

Technical Skills

• Animal Handling
• Medical Equipment Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Communication Skills
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in Emergency and Critical Care: Knowledge of emergency veterinary care is a plus.
• Certification in Animal Behaviour: Certification that demonstrates knowledge of animal behaviour.
