Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Neonatal Nurse to join our team in Cape Town. In this role, you will provide specialized care to premature and critically ill newborns, ensuring their well-being and supporting their families during this critical time.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-centered care while maintaining safety protocols.
  • Administer treatments and manage IV lines for infants.
  • Perform physical assessments and evaluate newborn conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding patient status.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress.
  • Document all nursing interventions in electronic records accurately.
  • Engage in mentorship and support of junior nursing staff.
  • Contribute to research initiatives focusing on neonatal health care.
  • Lead training sessions on neonatal care for new staff.
  • Ensure the NICU environment is conducive to positive outcomes for infants.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in neonatal care

Certifications

Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in a Level II or III NICU: Previous work experience in advanced neonatal intensive care units.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR): Ability to efficiently navigate and document in EHR systems.
