Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cultural Heritage Officer in Johannesburg to lead initiatives in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. The ideal candidate will coordinate educational programs, engage with local communities, and manage heritage conservation projects, ensuring that the history and cultural diversity of South Africa are honored and sustained.

Responsibilities

• Manage cultural heritage outreach programs to educate the public.
• Work with local leaders to encourage community participation in heritage events.
• Conduct heritage audits and assessments of local sites.
• Develop promotional materials to highlight cultural events and initiatives.
• Engage with media to promote awareness of cultural heritage issues.
• Provide guidance on best practices in heritage conservation to community members.
• Establish partnerships with cultural institutions for collaborative projects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Cultural Management, Sociology, or a related field
• Master's degree in a related field is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in community-based cultural projects
