Job Description

As an Insurance Underwriter here in Durban, you'll evaluate various insurance applications while collaborating closely with agents to understand their clients' needs. Your insight will help shape our policies and contribute to our goal of offering the best insurance solutions in the market.

Responsibilities

• Analyze applicants' backgrounds, financial statements, and insurance needs.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports to management.
• Ensure compliance with industry laws and regulations.
• Review and recommend adjustments to existing policies based on changing conditions.
• Work closely with claims teams to address any underwriting concerns post-approval.
• Attend industry seminars and training sessions for continuous improvement.
• Assist in the development of new insurance products.
• Keep detailed records of all underwriting analyses and decisions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Insurance, or related field
• Insurance designations like AIC or AIM considered an asset

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting

Certifications

• Associate in Commercial Underwriting (ACU)
