Job Description

As a Court Reporter and Simultaneous Captioner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring courtroom procedures are accurately documented. This position involves recording and transcribing legal proceedings, aiding judges and attorneys in maintaining procedural integrity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate recording of all courtroom activities and proceedings.
• Create verbatim transcripts of court sessions for legal records.
• Assist in the organization and management of evidence and courtroom documentation.
• Communicate effectively with court staff and legal professionals.
• Adapt to new technology and tools for recording and transcription.
• Monitor discussions and proceedings, ensuring all relevant details are captured accurately.
• Support in maintaining court schedules and managing timing for all parties involved.
• Participate in ongoing training to improve transcription skills.
• Prepare summaries of court proceedings for review by attorneys and judges.
• Ensure all recordings are archived and maintained for future reference.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree or diploma in court reporting or legal studies is preferred

Experience

• Experience in transcribing court proceedings is highly desirable.
