Job Description

We are in search of a Trademark Manager to lead our intellectual property department in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of trademark laws and a proven track record in managing brand protections and compliance. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our clients’ trademarks are well protected and that our company complies with all legal standards in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead trademark management efforts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential trademark challenges.
  • Assist clients in effectively utilizing their trademark rights.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the protection of trademarks.
  • Coordinate with legal forums and bodies to advocate for clients' trademark interests.
  • Oversee the maintenance of records associated with trademark applications and renewals.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on trademark practices and procedures.
  • Manage disputes and litigation related to trademark infringements.
  • Collaborate closely with international partners for global trademark strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations regarding trademark management to stakeholders.

Requirements

Education
  • LLB degree or equivalent necessary.
  • Postgraduate specialization in Intellectual Property Law preferred.
Experience
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in IP law focusing on trademarks.
