Urban Planner

Job Description

As an Urban Planner in our Durban office, you will lead projects aimed at optimizing land use and enhancing urban spaces. You will analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders, ensuring that our city evolves in a way that is inclusive and beneficial for all residents.

Responsibilities

• Analyze demographic and economic data to inform planning decisions.
• Create visual presentations and planning documents for stakeholder meetings.
• Work with environmental planners to incorporate sustainability practices.
• Ensure adherence to local, provincial, and national planning policies.
• Monitor project progress and coordinate with engineers and architects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field
• Master's degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline is preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in community or urban planning

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• Sustainable Development Practices

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Urban Planning Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of South African Urban Policies: Strong understanding of local urban planning policies and legislation.
• Fluency in multiple South African languages: Ability to communicate in other local languages is advantageous.
