Public Health Practitioner

Job Description

We are in search of a passionate Public Health Practitioner to spearhead various health initiatives and programs aimed at improving community health in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of public health principles and possess the skills to work collaboratively with community stakeholders to enhance health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate community health needs and develop targeted action plans.
• Foster partnerships with local organizations to enhance health service delivery.
• Organize and participate in community health fairs and awareness campaigns.
• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders outlining public health issues.
• Support research projects related to public health and community health outcomes.
• Advise on health policies and best practices based on evidence and data.
• Engage in community outreach to educate the public on health topics.
• Lead program development initiatives to improve health literacy.
• Respond to public health emergencies and health crises as needed.
• Mentor and support junior staff and health volunteers.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Public Health or related field
• Doctorate is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in public health interventions

Certifications

• Certified in Global Health (CGH)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• Familiarity with health communication tools: Knowledge of tools and strategies for effective health communication.
