Job Description

As a Children's Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting children and families in navigating the library's resources. Your responsibilities will include organizing engaging activities and fostering a rich reading environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with library staff to develop programs that engage children.
  • Maintain a welcoming and family-friendly environment in the children's area.
  • Assist with cataloging and organizing children's books.
  • Facilitate workshops that promote reading and literacy.
  • Organize reading competitions and thematic events.
  • Provide guidance on using online research databases.
  • Support children with research and homework tasks.
  • Create colorful displays to promote new arrivals in children's literature.

Requirements

Education
  • Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Higher qualification in Library Sciences or Education preferred
Experience
  • Experience in conducting storytime sessions or interactive programs for children.
