Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Criminal Defense Attorney to join our Johannesburg office. You will represent clients in criminal cases, providing expert legal counsel and defense. The ideal candidate has a strong background in criminal law and a passion for justice.

Responsibilities

• Defend clients in criminal trials and hearings, maintaining high ethical standards.
• Analyze evidence and case facts to develop effective defense strategies.
• Engage in pre-trial motions and hearings to fortify case positions.
• Advise clients on plea agreements and trial strategies.
• Participate in professional development and legal education programs.
• Foster strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and concerns.
• Provide mentorship to junior attorneys and interns.
• Actively participate in bar association activities and initiatives.
• Monitor client cases for any updates and modifications to legal strategies.
• Prepare and present complex legal arguments before judges.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or Juris Doctor
• Further specialization in criminal justice is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of direct criminal law experience

Certifications

• Certified Criminal Law Specialist
• Master's in Criminal Justice (preferred)
