Patent Attorney

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Patent Attorney to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advising clients on intellectual property matters, including patent applications and strategies to protect their innovations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full patent application process, from concept to filing.
• Review and analyze patent applications for compliance.
• Advise on IP litigation and enforcement strategies.
• Foster relationships with clients to understand their business needs.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on intellectual property topics.
• Assist in the development of internal policies regarding IP management.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent
• Specialization in Intellectual Property Preferred

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in patent law.

Technical Skills

• Prior Art Searches
• Patent Drafting

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Client Management

Certifications

• Registered Patent Attorney

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Understanding of IP Strategies: Experience in advising clients on comprehensive IP strategies is beneficial.
• Project Management Skills: Experience in managing IP projects would be an advantage.
