Job Description

We're on the lookout for a skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, managing legal risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You will be an integral part of our operations, working closely with various departments to support our business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the legal aspects of business transactions.
• Prepare reports and presentations on legal issues for the management team.
• Develop and implement legal policies that protect the company.
• Ensure that all company practices are compliant with applicable laws.
• Address potential legal disputes and provide resolution strategies.
• Monitor changes in legislation that may affect the business.
• Collaborate with HR on employment law matters.
• Maintain accurate records of legal documents and communications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Law
• MBA or similar qualification is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in an in-house legal role

• Intellectual Property Law

Certifications

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in Data Protection Law: Knowledge in managing data protection issues and compliance.
