Legal Advisor

Job Description

Join our legal team in Durban as a Legal Advisor where you will provide expert legal counsel to ensure compliance and mitigate risks for our clients. Your role will include drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on regulatory issues, and representing the firm in negotiations. We seek someone with a robust understanding of South African law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents, including contracts and memoranda.
• Conduct risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Represent the firm in court and legal disputes.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary.
• Engage with regulatory authorities on compliance matters.
• Research case law and legislation relevant to the firm's practice areas.
• Participate in legal audits and reviews to ensure compliance.

Requirements

Education

• LLM preferred
• Additional qualifications in Corporate Law will be an advantage

Experience

• 5 years of experience in a legal advisory capacity

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic
