Roaster Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Roaster Operator who will be responsible for operating and maintaining coffee roasting equipment to produce high-quality roasted coffee products. The ideal candidate will have a keen sense for flavours and aromas, as well as strong mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the roasting process, ensuring optimal flavour extraction.
• Perform equipment diagnostics and maintenance as needed.
• Ensure all production documentation is completed and accurate.
• Engage in regular training sessions to stay updated on industry standards.
• Support the development of new coffee products and blends.
• Utilize software to monitor and report roasting data.
• Assist in developing best practices for sustainable coffee production.
• Collaborate on maintaining a positive and productive team environment.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Provide input on purchasing decisions for roasting materials.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or related field (advantageous)

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in coffee roasting or similar food production role

Technical Skills

• Coffee flavour profiling
• Roasting equipment operation

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Problem-solving

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with sustainability practices in coffee production: Experience with sourcing coffee that meets ethical and environmental standards.
• Experience with blending coffee: Knowledge in developing unique coffee blends.
