Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law and provide legal support to various business units while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of compliance programs and training for staff.
• Assist in corporate governance and board meeting preparations.
• Participate in the negotiation of contracts to protect the company’s interests.
• Monitor significant legal cases and developments relevant to the business.
• Advise on employment law matters and workplace compliance issues.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Law or related field
• Master's degree in Law is advantageous

Experience

• 6+ years of legal experience in corporate settings

Technical Skills

• Legal research and analysis
• Regulatory compliance

Soft Skills

• Negotiation
• Team player

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in another official South African language: Ability to communicate in a second language will be advantageous.
• Experience in mergers and acquisitions: Familiarity with M&A processes and compliance requirements.
