Job Description

As a Steel Pickler, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process by removing impurities from steel and preparing it for further processing. We seek individuals who are detail-oriented and can operate various equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate the pickling process and coordinate with supervisors to ensure productivity.
• Regularly inspect equipment for any faults or issues.
• Work with the team to ensure timely and efficient production schedules are met.
• Document maintenance work performed on pickling equipment.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations while managing chemicals used in the pickling process.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Track inventory levels of pickling materials and inform management of shortages.
• Assist in the training of junior staff on safe operational practices.

Requirements

Education

• Matric certificate
• Technical diploma or equivalent experience preferred

Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in steel pickling or related field

Technical Skills

• Attention to detail
• Physical dexterity
• Experience with pickling and surface preparation
• Basic math skills

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with various types of steel and pickling methods: Familiarity with different steel grades and pickling chemical processes.
• Forklift or other heavy equipment certification: Certification to operate forklifts or related machinery.
