Job Description

We're in search of an Environmental Planner to join our Durban office. The successful candidate will play a vital role in leading sustainable urban development projects. This position involves working closely with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure that urban development aligns with environmental sustainability goals. You will assess the environmental impacts of proposed developments and provide strategic advice to enhance community growth while protecting natural resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental assessments for proposed urban developments.
  • Prepare and present technical reports on findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects align with national and local environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for sustainable project delivery.
  • Conduct community outreach and engagement sessions.
  • Develop best practice guidelines for sustainable urban planning.
  • Evaluate the potential for renewable resources within projects.
  • Participate in workshops and seminars to promote environmental awareness.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
  • Utilise GIS tools for planning and environmental analysis.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or related field
  • Master's degree in related fields is advantageous
Experience
  • 5-7 years of proven experience in environmental planning projects
