Corporate Counsel

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Corporate Counsel to join our Johannesburg office. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management while supporting our diverse business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal reviews for new products and services.
• Coordinate with external counsel as needed.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory changes affecting the business.
• Advise on labor law matters and employment contracts.
• Assist with company policies and employee handbook updates.
• Evaluate potential legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide training on legal compliance and corporate governance.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent degree
• Master's degree in Law is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of practicing law in a corporate setting

Certifications

• Law Society of South Africa Accreditation
• Corporate Lawyer Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in tech industry law: Knowledge of legal issues pertaining to technology and innovation.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans: Ability to communicate effectively in Afrikaans is a plus.
