Legal Advisor

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a skilled Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and support to our various departments. This role requires a strong understanding of South African law, along with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advice on all corporate matters.
• Ensure the organization operates within legal boundaries.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings as necessary.
• Draft and review various legal documents, including corporate bylaws.
• Conduct due diligence and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams on legal requirements.

Requirements

Education

• LLB in Law or equivalent
• Master’s in Commercial Law preferred

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in corporate legal advisory roles

Technical Skills

• Regulatory Compliance
• Litigation Experience

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal Skills
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
• Admitted to the Bar Council

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Crisis Management Experience: Proven ability to manage legal crises effectively.
• Knowledge of Intellectual Property Law: Understanding of IP rights and protections.
