Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our talented team in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience in product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Interact with suppliers to source materials and components.
• Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies for engineering decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Postgraduate qualifications are beneficial

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Thermodynamics

Soft Skills

• Creative Problem Solving

Certifications

• Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
• Certified Engineering Technician (CET)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in product lifecycle management (PLM) systems: Experience with PLM tools for managing the product development process.
• Experience with CNC machining: Familiarity with CNC machining processes relevant to mechanical components.
