Job Description

As an Educational Audiologist, you will be responsible for assessing and addressing the hearing needs of students in educational settings. You'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that students with hearing impairments receive the support they need to thrive academically.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose hearing loss and related disorders in students referred by educational institutions.
  • Deliver direct services to students, such as auditory training, speechreading instruction, and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with educators and other professionals to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Conduct regular follow-up evaluations to monitor students' progress and make necessary adjustments to intervention plans.
  • Provide training and support to teachers, parents, and educational staff on hearing loss awareness and communication strategies.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Audiology or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in audiology or related field, preferably with experience in an educational setting.

  • Knowledge of South African education system and policies: Familiarity with the local educational landscape and relevant regulations.
