Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal advice, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations while supporting our business objectives. As a valued member of our legal team, you'll be instrumental in mitigating risks and managing legal disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the organization on relevant legal matters.
  • Conduct due diligence for potential transactions and business partnerships.
  • Advise on risk management strategies related to legal compliance.
  • Handle litigation processes and represent the company in court if necessary.
  • Work closely with external stakeholders to ensure legal matters are appropriately addressed.
  • Create comprehensive reports on legal matters for executive management.
  • Support the business in interpreting and applying laws and regulations.
  • Stay current on legislation pertinent to the industry and advise management on potential impacts.
  • Ensure the company's practices adhere to ethical standards and regulations.
  • Foster a collaborative environment between the legal team and other departments.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or its equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Specialization in Corporate or Commercial Law is preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of legal experience in corporate or commercial settings
